There's Been an ELVIS Sighting in Rosthern Saskatchewan!!!

Our Scrap N Camp 2007 was a "Vegas" style success!!!
Everyone had a blast!!, and we are able to make a great donation to the Denny Carr Secret Santa Foundation again this year!! Our guests came through again and donated over 100 new toys for the cause too! Laura Giesbrecht came out and did pedicures and manicures and donated a portion of her proceeds back and Mark Depeel (my Dad) donated a beautiful framed photograph, which we raffled off. Mark Wurtz and the Rosthern Youth Farm Bible Camp came through once again for us, and gave us a fantastic setting for our camp!! As well, many Saskatoon and area businesses donated prizes etc to us so we could make the weekend special for everyone who attended. A HUGE Thank You goes out to our very own "Elvis", he knows who he is, and we love him :) lol

No one can tell the story of the weekend quite as well as Karen "Olga" Pidskalny, who has attended our camps and been one of our best cheering sections right from the start!! Thanks Karen!! The following reprort on our camp was wonderfully written by her and I have 'borrowed' it from the http://www.scrapablemoments.com forums. Scrapable Moments is a fantastic site with forums a gallery and and a great online store :) You should check it out. Anyway without further wait, here's Karen's report!!!:

Rovering Reporter Olga, here bringing you the latest and the greatest from this weekend's Scrap n' Camp, 2007.

The theme this year was Viva Las Vegas! True to Vegas fashion, some gambling was done, plenty of entertainment, amazing food buffets and little sleep was had by many.

The weekend began with party arrivals, hugs for some and room assignments. Tables were chosen and then bags, totes and crates of scrappin supplies were hauled in.

The scrappin began........

The Vegas style challenges start with design a Vegas style name tag. There was bling, die, feathers and then there was the stripper tag. This one came complete with cards, money for slot machines, fish net stockings and a condom served on a disposable plate. A well known entertainer named it the full meal deal.

Friday night ran into Saturday morning and that was when the night life began. The Snorers Chorus was in full tune and played for the rest of the night until the sun cracked the horizon. It was only then their silence was experienced by snapping some photos of the sunrise.

Saturday was filled with scrappin, laughin and plenty of visiting. After the evening meal, the PJ party began.....

Loud music blarred over the room to make you stop what you were doing. You look around the room and to the sky and there he was, the

KING of ROCK n ROLL, Elvis!!!!

Can you spell scream, excitment, thrilling,

He sang Viva Las Vegas and Love Me Tender. I know that most of you will think that the kiss he blew was for one of the DT members but I know that wink was for me.

He then wiped his brow and threw the towel to us adoring, screaming ladies. I ran and grabbed it. Ahhhh! Elvis' sweat is on that towel.

Elvis was kind enough to stop and pose for some photos with us too.

Who could sleep after all that excitment? Not us talkers.

The snorers chorus was doing a repeat performance so some of us decided to take in another performance and enjoy the company of the Baby Bon Bons. Her performance lulled many of us to sleep.

There was an agent in the room and was trying to squeeze some information out of me while I was sleeping. They got me talking but lucky for me, my scrambler was on so all my information was incoherent to her.

So, in a nutshell, that was Scrap n' Camp 2007. There was about 209 pages scrapped this weekend. Plenty of prizes for every one.

Really, it was awesome! To those who did the organizing of the weekend, Thank you! Most of us had a fabulous time and are ready to sign up again for next year. You deserve huge hugs for a fantastic job, well done again!!

Looking forward to next year. Some of us gamblers were already trying to figure out what could be next year's theme. I guess we will have to wait.

This is Rovering Reporter Olga keeping you up to date on a wild and crazy weekend. Hoping to see a few more additional faces next year.

Have a good one!

Olga

The Saskatoon Youth Music Theatre ... Amazing Show!!

Keegan took part in a summer camp from July 9-20. The Saskatoon Youth Music Theatre. What an amazing group of staff they had working with these kids!!! I can't say enough good things about them and the work they did!! The kids started from scratch and in 2 weeks put together a first class show which went on stage Friday July 20 at the Persephone Theatre!! In fact, this will more than likely be the last performance at the old theatre as the Persephone prepares to move to their new home! There were about 53 kids involved in the production and it was absolutely fantastic!!! Many of the songs and skits sent shivers down my spine, and as any proud parent I shed a couple tears as the standing ovation started at the end. I looked up on stage at my son and they just started to flow, ok, so I'm an emotional type. Keegan has already started to talk about going again next year, and I can't wait either!! Everyday he came home excited to go back the next day!

Walking the Trails at Beaver Creek

This summer is going by way too fast, but it has been a good one so far!!
This past week, we managed to get out to Beaver Creek twice :) If you have never visited Beaver Creek, you are really missing out!! The staff in the conservation building are fantastic, and the trails are well taken care of and absolutely beautiful!!
On Sunday we walked the 1 km Yellow trail. It was great as it curved around with the creek far below. We did see a deer, although didn't manage to get a picture of it. The sound of the birds and other wildlide is so relaxing as you walk along the trail. Back at the building, Keegan even got to do some fish painting. There were a couple of other kids and they all seemed to enjoy themselves.

Wednesday night, my Dad went out to Beaver Creek with us. When we got back to the building after taking the yellow trail again, the staff told us there was some beaver activity on one of the other trails. One of the staff was on the trail and had contacted the staff at the building. We went out this trail where she was waiting for us and she took us to where we would get the best view. It was so amazing!! We were watching the beaver and it had disappeared from view, so as we were watching down the hill for it to appear again, Brian realized something was in the brush right beside him. Suddenly the beaver appeared not 10 feet from where we were standing and walked right past and up into the brush to get a young aspen branch. Then it lumbered back down the hill and into the water. I managed to get a picture of it's tail as it went back down (I really need a fancy digital hint hint hint). We stood and watched it in the water eating, then as two more beaver came around. It was really an awesome show they put on for us!!! We also saw a deer and a hawk, who was busy being chased by the smaller birds whose nest he'd gotten too close to. Keegan LOVED every minute of it, and so did the rest of us :) I really was thankful the staff had done this for us!! They go above and beyond and it is well appreciated!!! We love going out to Beaver Creek and you will be finding many more posts about that wonderful place!!!

Our trip to the Forestry Farm

Once again, Keegan didn't have school a couple of Fridays ago. So, I packed up him and my one daycare child for that day and off we went to the Forestry Farm. We LOVE the Forestry Farm, and are going to going there alot this summer thanks to buying a yearly pass :) The kids all love to go down by the pond, take all my quarters and feed the ducks and geese :) We learned a valuable lesson on this particular trip though ..... when feeding geese and gosslings, pay attention to a couple of things: 1) don't run out of quarters, therefore running out of food and 2) watch where the geese are, and make sure they are not surrounding your little group! There we were, minding our own business, feeding the geese and suddenly one starts to spit as the food supply runs low. I turn to lead the kids away and there's a spitting goose on that side too. Hmmmmm I'm thinking, "Geese don't like meat do they???". We find an opening, and make a break for it, slowly of course so we don't spook anyone lol. Then we went over to the bench sat down and the kids had a snack while we watched the different birds. Soon the geese were eating the kid's rice cakes and really enjoying them. A beautiful peacock came over and started to eat also. I have never been this close to a peacock before, and the camera was well used :) Don't the gosslings look like they would be so soft to cuddle?? :)

We are heading back to the Forestry Farm today, more pictures to post I am sure :)

Great Fun at the 2007 Osler Sports Days!

Last Saturday Keegan and I headed for Osler first thing in the morning for their sports days! Got there in time for the pancake breakfast, which Keegan REALLY enjoyed. lol We hung out for awhile, then headed out to get ready for the parade. Keegan was so pumped as he got to ride on the Creative Wood float!! Brian's brothers own Creative Wood in Osler, and they are celebrating their 20th year as a registered business this year!!! WTG guys!!
Keegan had a BLAST riding the float and throwing candy to all the kids. He kept hitting the back of Randy and Jaquie's truck though, so we're hoping the bill isn't too high lol :).

The rest of the day was spent hanging out with family and enjoying the sun and activities out in Osler! They really put on a fantastic event!! One of the events happening that day was something this city kid had only heard of before :) I seriously thought it was something the 'country folk' only told us they did to play with our minds ..... That's right ..... the COW PADDY BINGO!!! Of course I had to buy some squares and then I sat along with probably 40 other people waiting for the 'big' moment ..... yup, I, city kid, waited and watched for a cow to poop!!! Being the camera obsessed person I am, I even took pictures (NO not of the cow pooping!!) lol

Keegan also had a first out in Osler. He had never petted or ridden a horse before!! After the parade as we waited while prizes were handed out, the people next to us were on horses. I don't remember their names, but they were so awesome! They let the kids pet the horses (and me lol) and even tried to get Keegan into the saddle for a photo op. Keegan got pretty spooked as the horse was quite big, and that photo op didn't happen, but got one of him petting his first horse :)
Then, in kidsville, he did go for a pony ride. The people with the ponies (once again, I don't remember their names) were amazing!! Keegan was pretty spooked, so the woman walked beside his horse talking to him the whole time!! Keegan ended up LOVING it :)

Then it was back to the hall, where I won an awesome BINGO prize :) Thanks Cheryl :) And to finish off our stay at the Sports Days, they had an early Birthday Party for Canada!!
There was more happening that evening, but for Keegan and I it was time to get back on the highway and head home!! Thanks for the awesome day!!!

Some Catching Up with the Blog!

Keegan is all done performing on stage now! The Saskatoon Boys Choir, led by Joel Swaan, did an awesome job at their Spring Recital! Keegan had some very proud family members in the crowd!! A huge Thank You to Grandma and Grandpa P, my brother Trevor and my Uncle Don and Aunt Eleanor for coming. It meant the world to Keegan to have some family faces in the group. He did so well, and ended up even doing solos since his singing partner was out sick. We got his hair cut, so had to share a new picture of him in his uniform (well, minus the tie).
Then came all his performances at school the very next week. Pope John Paul ll School, once again, put on a great show! I am always impressed with the staff and students at that school! They did the "Trial of the Big Bad Wolf", it was very well done and way funny :). Thank You to Annette for coming out to see Keegan perform, he was thrilled to have you there!!

Wow, where is May going, and why so fast?? It has been busy here, but going really well! My daycare is full, and I am thrilled and busy (and tired lol). We had alot of fun making our Mothers Day craft this year. On their cards is a picture of each of them along with a poem and their handprints inside. I won't post these as their pictures are on them, but they turned out great. They also decorated pots and Keegan and I picked out some flowers to go into them, that can be planted outside. The older child of each family decorated the pots, since the younger child of each family is almost 1 and 7 months lol.

Thanks for catching up with us!

It Has Been So Crazy!!

We have been crazy busy lately here! Haven't even gotten out for many walks, which I am really missing! Keegan is in the Saskatoon Boy's Choir and they are getting ready for their big Spring Recital on Sunday and then he goes on stage with his play at school next week. He's excited, but seeming overwhelmed right now with all the lines and songs running full-speed through his head!
Yesterday, the Boy's Choir went "on tour", and I helped as a driver. This was a benefit to me also, as then I got to go along and take lots of pictures :) The boys went to the Saskatoon Convalescent Home, Mayfair School and the Sherbrooke Community Centre. The people at each place were so welcoming of the choir and the boys did a great job!!

This is Keegan in his Choir clothes :)

Grasslands Walk April 22, 2007

We headed out to the Grasslands again on Sunday. This time we dragged along our dear friend Annette :) We headed out a different trail, and as we came over a small hill there were crocus' as far as you could see, it was gorgeous! We walked for about two hours through there, including down a hill into the ravine and up the hill on the other side twice :) I admit it, walking down hills and across bridges are two of my biggest fears. I managed to get down the hills on Sunday and was a happy camper! Going back up the second hill, I hit some wet clay and took a bit of a slide and fall, but Brian saved me :) I was pretty glad I was holding the camera, didn't need pictures of that!! The camera got a little clay covered, but still worked like a charm, so all is good :) The area we went into this time had signs of high beaver activity and was a very interesting walk, with lots to look at and talk about. This area is beautiful, and there are so many trails! I really need to start remembering my pedometer on these walks though!!

Our Family Adventure Walks

This is a topic that will be popping up alot in my Blog! My hubby, Brian, son, Keegan and I love to go for what we call "Family Adventure Walks". One of our favorite places to go is straight out Central Avenue to the Grasslands beside the Psych Center. Not sure if this says something about us, but we aren't the only ones, there's always other people out there! We went on Sunday April 15th. The weather was beautiful, just perfect for walking. The search for the crocus was on, and we did find some beautiful ones, not as many as I thought we would, but they are coming.

My New Challenge .... Keep Up With a Blog!

I know I have started a blog before, but for the life of me, I can't find it. I didn't do alot with it, and I am challenging myself to do more with this one. I have talked to so many scrapbook fanatics with blogs, I just have to join them lol. So hopefully I will be able to keep up with it, and not bore everyone too much :)
Have a Great Day!!
